FBCNR Children & Youth Ministry Safety Policy

At First Baptist Church of New Roads, the safety and well-being of everyone at the church is our top priority. We are committed to creating a nurturing and secure environment where families can grow in faith with peace of mind.

🔒 Background Checks

  • All volunteers and staff working directly with children or youth—whether regularly or for a one-time event—must have an up-to-date background check on file.
  • Background checks are renewed every 2 years or as required by our insurance provider.

📻 Radio Communication Policy

  • All ministry leaders and volunteers are expected to be familiar with the church radio policy for communication during events.
  • Radios must be carried and monitored during all children’s activities, including Sunday School, VBS, off-campus events, and large church functions.

👥 Two-Adult Rule

  • A minimum of two screened and approved adults must be present at all times during any children’s or youth ministry activity. This includes classrooms, small groups, transportation, and restroom monitoring.

🚻 Restroom Policy

  • Volunteers are not permitted to enter a restroom alone with a child. A second adult must be present nearby if assistance is needed.
  • When possible, children should be encouraged to use the restroom before class or events begin.

📝 Check-In & Check-Out Procedures

  • Children must be checked in and out by a parent or authorized guardian.
  • Only individuals listed on the child’s check-in record may pick them up unless prior written permission is provided.

📸 Photography & Social Media

  • We will not post photos of children without consent from the parents. If you do not wish your child to be posted on facebook or for publicity purposes, please let us know.
  • We follow strict guidelines for safety and appropriateness.

🆘 Incident Reporting

  • Any incidents—injuries, behavioral concerns, or suspicious activity—must be reported immediately to a ministry leader and documented using the church’s incident form.
