You don’t have to be Baptist to attend First Baptist Church New Roads. Everyone in the community is welcome – no matter your background, your faith, or where you are on your journey. We’re more than a church… we’re family!
When is Wednesday Service at First Baptist Church New Roads?
Wednesday Service is at 6 PM in the Sanctuary. The Children’s Ministry has a special missions program during this time and the nursery is available for our infants to 3 year olds. The middle school meets during this time too.
Do you have something for the older kids on Wednesday at First Baptist Church New Roads?
Our First Students High School group meets every Wednesday from 6 – 8 PM. It’s a place to connect, grow in your faith, and have fun with friends who are walking through life just like you. No matter where you’re coming from, you’re welcome here!
What is Family Night at First Baptist Church New Roads?
Join us for Family Night on the last Wednesday of each month at 5 pm in the Activity Center! Everyone is welcome for a time of good food, conversation, and community. After the meal, we’ll have a brief service together in the dining room. It’s a great way to connect, relax and grow together!
What should I wear to church?
There is no dress code at First Baptist Church New Roads, you are welcome to dress up or down. Whatever you are comfortable wearing as long as you are covered.
Is there parking available?
There is limited parking in the front of the church. We also have handicap parking on the side and directly in the back of the main sanctuary. Our primary parking lot can be accessed by turning on Olinde street or from Main Street in the driveway towards the back of the church.
How do I get connected when I first visit?
You can enter the main sanctuary from the front, side or back entrance. There are people at the entrance under the foyer that will greet you and have handouts available. If you enter through the back entrance (closest to the primary parking lot), the handouts are available on the table. Feel free to introduce yourself, but someone will usually come around and talk to you. If you prefer to avoid the crowd, you can sit upstairs in the balcony. We also have cards you can fill out so that you can be added to our Midweek Message.
Do you offer online services or livestreams?
We livestream our service on Facebook every Sunday and Wednesday except the last Wednesday for Family Night. We also don’t have livestreaming for our special events when we have service in the Activity Center.
What is a typical Sunday service like?
At First Baptist Church New Roads, Sunday mornings are a time for meaningful worship, biblical teaching, and connection. We start the day with biscuits and coffee at 9 AM in the Activity Center, followed by Bible Study for all ages at 9:15 AM. Our main worship service begins at 10:30 AM on Sunday and includes live music, prayer, and a message rooted in God’s word. You’ll find a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where everyone – no matter your background – is invited to come as you are. We also offer a nursery and children’s church during the service so the whole family can feel at home.
Is childcare available during services?
We offer a safe and welcoming nursery during our worship service for infants and toddlers. For older children, we don’t just provide childcare – we offer a full worship experience designed just for them! Your kids will enjoy Bible stories, music, fun activities, and snacks, all in a loving environment. We’re also equipped to accommodate children with special needs, so they can feel included and have a great time while you enjoy the service with peace of mind. We also have a nice room with a couch and a large screen tv if you would like to stay together as a family, but your kids aren’t comfortable sitting through the service.
What age groups are part of First Kids?
First Kids is our Children’s Ministry for infants through 4th grade led by our director A’na Huckabaa. Each age group receives age-appropriate lessons and activities to help then grown in faith in a fun engaging way. During Bible Study, children are divided into smaller groups based on their age. During the worship service, our older kids gather in the Children’s sanctuary for their own worship experience designed just for them.
What activities are available for high school students?
Our high school students meet on Sunday mornings at 9:15 in the loft of the Activity Center and again on Wednesday nights at 6 PM. These gatherings are a great time to hang out, build friendships, and grown in their faith through Bible study, worship, and real conversations led by husband and wife Jacob and Megan Zahorchak. Throughout the year, they also enjoy special events, service projects, and an annual camp that’s always a highlight!
Do I need to register my child before attending?
You do not need to register before attending, however, you are free to reach out to the Children’s Ministry Director A’na Huckabaa if you would like to see the facility or register your child before Sunday morning.
